Vehicle Description This ton 5-window 3100 pickup is largely original, including a well-maintained 235 straight-six engine and rebuilt 4-on-the-floor transmission.
Updates I know about are:
Conversion to 12 volts Rear-end replacement for a more highway-friendly ratio Brand-new carburetor Change from closed to open driveline configuration for easier maintenance Radio replaced by (low-end) Craig cassette deck and speakers.
Other gauges are original (fuel gauge isn't reliable) After-market turn indicator installed Recent top-grade paint job (original color was gray) The cab upholstery is original, as is the sound and solid wooden bed.
It's lived in my carport for the twenty years I've owned it and been put to light duty:
runs to the dump, carrying firewood, moving friends, a little construction.
The speedometer was replaced recently, so the 54,696 odometer reading is meaningless.
I've probably racked up 3-4,000 miles in twenty years, and don't know details of its history before that.
It cruises smoothly in town and on the highway.
In tight spaces, the lack of power steering calls for some muscle.
This is not a flawless blue-ribbon show truck.
The prize I get whenever I'm out and about is a steady stream of thumbs-up and knowing smiles.
